On 22nd June, Deputy Lieutenant Philip Bostock OBE attended the Devon Windrush Flag Raising Ceremony at Devon County Council to mark 75 years since the Empire Windrush arrived in Tilbury Dock and its 492 passengers disembarked to begin a new life in Britain.
On 15th June, the Lord Lieutenant of Devon walked part of the South West Coast Path to commemorate its 50th anniversary. The path stretches across 630 miles, making it the UK’s longest National Trail. He also gave a speech on the day to thank its volunteers.
