On Friday, 11th October, Deputy Lieutenant Richard Stevens MBE DL officially opened the REV7 Community Hair Salon in Plymouth.
The hair salon, run by Reverend Darren Middleton, offers professional hair services to those in the community in financial, emotional or physical need. Reverend Darren Middleton has trained as a hairdresser for the last three years, whilst also looking after four churches in Plymouth.
REV7 provides a full range of hair care services, from haircuts and styling to colour treatments. Additionally, the salon also offers nail manicures and other nail-related treatments.
Reverend Darren, the founder of REV7, said:
“We believe that everyone deserves to look and feel their best, regardless of their situation. Through this salon, we aim to not only provide great hair services in a relaxed, safe space but also help foster a sense of dignity, self-worth and kindness throughout our community. We can be a listening ear and demonstrate the power of caring about others in a very tangible way.”
Richard Stevens MBE DL was proud to open the Salon as director of Plymouth Citybus, who is supporting the REV7 project by providing portable ramps to help with access to the hair salon entrance for wheelchair users.
Reverend Darren expressed his thanks, saying:
‘We’re so grateful to Plymouth Citybus for this assistance, as it’s really important for us to be able to welcome everyone into the salon and as we’re on a main bus route, we hope the ramps will help people visit us.’
