On Tuesday, 16th July, HM Lord Lieutenant of Devon presented Coldharbour Mill, a charity based in Uffculme, Devon, with their King’s Award for Voluntary Service. Coldharbour Mill is one of the oldest woollen textile mills in the world, having been in continuous production since 1797.

Over 60 volunteers attended the ceremony, as well as Civic Dignitaries including Lord Ivar Mountbatten DL (Deputy Lieutenant of Devon), Cllr Neal Davey (Mayor of Tiverton), Cllr Frank Letch MBE (Mid Devon District Councillor), and Cllr Ray Radford (County Councillor for the electoral division of Willand & Uffculme).

The award recognises the Mill’s outstanding commitment to benefiting local communities through its voluntary work. This achievement highlights the vital role that volunteers play in preserving the historical and cultural heritage of Coldharbour Mill, which continues to thrive due to their tireless efforts.

The King’s Award for Voluntary Service is the highest award given to local volunteer groups across the UK, recognising the outstanding work done in their communities. It was created in 2002 and is equivalent to an MBE for volunteer groups.
